What makes OscarOnline different to the other software packages out there?

The biggest difference is that Oscar is developed specifically for Small Businesses in the UK. We developed Oscar precisely because there isn't any other realistic solution for small businesses that provide them with CRM, core business management, right through to bookkeeping (optionally).

The other systems available are either too expensive, too complicated, or both. Small businesses just want something that makes sense and works without needing an in-house boffin to use it, and that's where Oscar fits in.

We don't request any payment details to take the trial so it's not something you have to cancel, it just ends after 1 week. You get to access all the functionality for the week and we've pre-populated the demo with a pretend company so it's easy to see the system working.

What about your service?

Again, because we work with small businesses we have a much closer relationship with our customers and offer much more help especially to get them up and running. Larger businesses can afford to dedicate someone in-house to work on moving to a business system, whereas small businesses don't have the time. Because of this we give the option of a really hands on approach to guide our customers through the setup. We can even setup Oscar with the customer's contacts and product information.

Why is it better to use Oscar instead of several specialist systems?

Who wants to learn two or three packages when you can just learn one? Also, think of the duplication of work copying data from one system to the next. Sure, some systems are supposed to integrate with each other, but that's just something else to go wrong and cause problems. Oscar eliminates those issues and stops customers being caught in the middle of two or more providers arguing where the fault lies!

Is Oscar a CRM system?

That's part of what Oscar does. Oscar comes in various packages so customers can select the package that will add the most value. When people talk about CRM it can mean different things to different people, but the Starter package is small business CRM. It does the important bits of a dedicated CRM application that are most needed by small businesses but without the bells and whistles that complicate the system and don't get used. It's all about making a system that is simple to learn and easy to use so that our customers get real benefits quickly.

So Oscar is like Salesforce or ACT?

No, it has very little in common with either of those. Some of the CRM aspects overlap but in our opinion those systems are far more suited to large businesses that need heavyweight CRM. The real benefits come from Oscar with the introduction of other modules such as Service Management or Event Management that are outside the scope of dedicated CRM applications such as those you've mentioned.

So Oscar is Online - how is that better than an in-house system?

There's no need to buy a server, or buy support on a server. You don't have to worry about backups since Oscar backs up every 15 minutes to a completely different location.

Our hosted service is also more secure than having an in-house system - 24hr surveillance, fire suppression systems, multiple internet links and power backups that small business can't normally afford protect our servers. Additionally, because it's online, Oscar can be accessed securely from anywhere and that flexibility is essential for most modern businesses.
